Freedom of Speech

Captain,
I suggest you review the MGL's and the Constitution of the United States next time you decide to send out an email meant to quell the ability of government workers free speech.

MGL C66 S10 (Applies to the employer and those responsibly for the public record, not to other individuals.).The relevant part of the law is below. Feel free to click on the link to read the law in its entirety. The home address and home telephone number of law enforcement, judicial, prosecutorial, department of youth services, department of social services, department of correction and any other public safety and criminal justice system personnel, and of unelected general court personnel, shall not be public records in the custody of the employers of such personnel

Captain you should be well aware of what constitutes violating someone’s civil rights. You would think after being sued by Attorney Wright and losing $250,000. You would think twice before stepping outside of the law.

Although I do not condone making public a police officers address I do believe that all actions must comply with the law.

I do hope that the time Sgt. Phillips is spending in the computer forensics room is on his own time and not time being paid for by the city. His work is solely for your personal gain, which would constitute an ethics violation. Now you do not want another one so close to the last do you?
